A Sgian Dubh with a clan crest inset in the handle. A very popular sgian dubh, it has a top claw setting to hold a stone, which is available in six colours. The thistle metal work is in pewter with a plated finish of palladium ensuring it will not scratch or tarnish, while the blade is made from stainless steel. Available in a bright or antique finish. Black simulated handle and sheath.

Sgian is Gaelic for knife or dagger and Dubh is Gaelic for black – ‘black dagger’. These traditionally had black handles but there was a hidden meaning to black – literally hidden and secret! The knife would be hidden in the clothing and used as a weapon of last resort. However, as a mark of courtesy to a host the knife would be worn in an open manner – prominently in the hose.
