Product Description
Tartan Trews with Fishtail Waist
Tartan trews with a ‘fishtail’ waist are a traditional military style trouser. Called fishtail because they’re specifically cut to accommodate braces (suspenders) rather than a belt. The ‘V’ cut at the back enables you to fasten your braces to the hidden buttons. Wear fishtail trews formally with a short Prince Charlie coatee and waistcoat. You can style them with side pockets or, keep with tradition and opt for no pockets at all. These beautiful trews give you an alternative to wearing the kilt to formal events like dinners and weddings.

Measurements guide
- Waist: Remember that these trews are high-waisted and are worn around your waist, not, as with most trousers nowadays, around your hips. Pass the tape over your belly-button, or find the top of your hip bone and pass the tape approximately 1″ (2.5cm) above it. The tape should be comfortably tight.
- Hips or seat: measure around your seat ensuring the tape passes around the largest part of the buttocks.
- Inside Leg: measure from the top of the inner trouser seam (where the two seams meet) down to the top of the heel (where the heel meets the sole of the shoe). Alternatively, as a rough guide you can calculate your inside leg measurement by subtracting 11″ (28cm) from the outside leg measurement
- Outside Leg: Measure the outside leg from from 1″ (2.5cm) above the hip bone down to the top of the heel (where the heel meets the sole of your shoe)
