There are plenty of reasons to want less weight in a kilt. Compromising on the kilt itself isn't one of them.

Our Bespoke Lightweight Kilt is a fully tailored traditional kilt, made to your measurements in Scotland, but cut from lighter 10–11oz pure wool tartan. You still get the fullness, pleating, movement and craftsmanship you'd expect from a proper bespoke kilt. What changes is the cloth.

When lighter makes sense

A lightweight kilt is particularly well suited to summer weddings, warmer climates, travel, dancing or simply anyone who prefers less weight. The important distinction is that lightweight describes the cloth, not the quality of the kilt.

This isn't our Casual Kilt with better tailoring. It's a different proposition: a full traditional kilt made from lighter wool.

Lightweight pure wool

We make these kilts from premium 10–11oz pure wool tartan. These finer fabrics retain the colour, handle and natural character of woven wool tartan while reducing the overall weight of the finished kilt.

Lightweight or Signature Highland?

Choose our Bespoke Lightweight Kilt if reduced weight, warmer weather, travel or freedom of movement are priorities. Choose our Signature Highland Kilt if you want the greater substance and drape of traditional 13–14oz kilting cloth for an all-round kilt suited to formal occasions and regular wear.

Your kilt is made specifically for you. Using the measurements you provide, we'll make it to sit at the correct position, fall to the proper length and give the pleats the room they need to hang and move naturally.

Made for you

Every kilt is made to order, so please allow up to six weeks for dispatch. If you're buying for a wedding, trip, Highland games or another fixed date, contact us before ordering if time is tight. We can often arrange to fast-track an order.

Delivery

UK delivery is free and tracked, with no minimum order value. Every international order is tracked too, with duties-paid delivery available to the USA and selected European countries.
